Photonics Photonics is everything that has to do with photons, whether they are the object of study or the target. There are many well-known tools such as lasers, LEDs, sensors, fiber optic or satellite communications, cameras, spectra… In fact, photonics is considered one of the 5 enabling technologies or KETs (Key Enabling Technologies), which can add value to areas as varied as health, communications, the environment or aerospace, among many others.
The Photonics node, led by ICFO, extends its area of influence to other nearby technology sectors. By strengthening its interaction links with all technological environments, it can help provide more integrated solutions to companies both locally and abroad, meeting needs along the entire value chain and reinforcing the industrial, technological and knowledge ecosystems in Catalonia.
