With the increase of cyber attacks in today’s world, it is increasingly necessary to protect oneself, so much so that cybersecurity problems affect both end users and now private companies, as well as public environments. In this sense, this course will make this problem visible, providing a knowledge base in cybersecurity with the aim of customizing this knowledge to the area of smart cities and transportation systems, both in the public and private spheres.

This course will look at common problems in environments exposed to the Internet, as well as mechanisms to protect them effectively without impacting in a noticeable way within the day-to-day life of the service users.

Thus, from a professional point of view, this course will provide knowledge to support the security of services and infrastructures used by existing services in the transport area, but also focusing on common protection systems such as firewalls, Web Application Firewalls (WAFs) or even applications deployed with network access. To complete this knowledge, active techniques to verify the security of the systems by means of Ethical Hacking will also be seen.

This study is part of the training actions financed by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, in the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union – Next Generation EU. This grant aims to carry out training courses for digital empowerment and sustainability in the field of transport and mobility.

Participants in this study must be citizens of a Member State of the European Union or of another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area and Switzerland, or have authorization to stay or reside in Spanish territory.

Computer and networking skills are required.

Knowledge of programming and operating systems will help to get the most out of the course.

Objectiu de l'acte

  • Understand the main concepts of cybersecurity.
  • To be able to provide the basic protection controls of a physical and virtual infrastructure to the cloud.
  • To see the security implications within a public environment in smart cities at the level of the services offered.
  • To learn proactive mechanisms of quantification of the security of a system, starting from mechanisms of offensive security (Ethical Hacking).
