A few years after the term Industry 4.0 was coined to refer to the renewed technological framework, we see how the entire industry, and companies in general, are deploying, to a greater or lesser extent, plans to incorporate digital technologies into their products and processes.
While a few years ago, the first edition of the Forum was driven by the need to provide a rigorous understanding of the concepts, challenges and opportunities behind the fourth industrial revolution, today it is becoming increasingly important to compare our own strategies and projects with those being deployed by other companies, whether in our own sector or in other industries.
The confluence of different technologies, including collaborative robotics, electronics or the Internet of Things (IoT), additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence, or connectivity and integration software, offer a platform where innovation is accelerating and from which one cannot be absent if one wants to continue in the race for competitiveness in a global market.
The Industry 4.0 Commission continues to promote initiatives that help engineering professionals, the true protagonists of Industry 4.0, to learn about the technological proposals and experiences of others, in order to apply them in the immediate future, and thus spread them throughout Catalan industry.
In this sense, the Industry 4.0 Commission, formed by members of the Association of Agricultural Engineers of Catalonia, the Association of Civil Engineers of Catalonia, the Association of Industrial Engineers of Catalonia, the Association of Computer Engineering of Catalonia, the Catalan Association of Telecommunications Engineers and AIQS, is organising the Industry 4.0 Forum, continuing the success and consolidating the experience of previous editions.
